Brian Eno Encourages Backing to Propel Together for Palestine Song to UK Festive Top Spot.
A campaign is aiming to propel a cultural melody to the Christmas number one spot. The campaign aims to provide aid to communities in Gaza while also showcasing Palestinian culture and creativity.
An Opportunity for Solidarity and an "Chart Upset"
Musician and artist Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a opportunity to stand with Palestinians during the holidays. He acknowledged the potential for an unlikely festive coup.
“That would be amazing if that happened, yes,” he said. “I wouldn't be completely let down if it doesn't manage to, Christmas singles are a unique phenomenon.”
Powerful Theme of Dignity and Freedom
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the version of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's defiant core message.
“The song holds a profound significance for countless listeners,” Barghouti explained. “The essence is that I would choose to perish with honor than spend my life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we seek to lead a life of dignity that we merit as a people.”
Track's Background and Contributing Musicians
The song was recorded following a major charity concert held in September. First conceived to be performed and recorded live, the rendition was omitted from the lengthy event due to scheduling overruns.
The notable list of musicians contributing to Lullaby features a group of well-known figures from the scene. All took part in the earlier concert, which managed to collect a considerable total for humanitarian aid.
Final Touches and Availability
Lullaby was produced by a team of producers and composers. The track showcases a mix of the original Arabic with contemporary English verses.
The team running the initiative have stated that their goal is to collect the highest amount for a dedicated fund. These proceeds will be channeled to projects in Palestine through an established charity.
“We don’t have a specific target,” a spokesperson commented. “We will pursue whatever we can get. Naturally, the greater the amount, the better. Every penny goes out to those in need in Gaza.”
The context in the territory was noted for its extreme devastation, with a overwhelming percentage of buildings reportedly in ruins or severely impacted.
“In that context, a few million won't make an enormous impact. But I think what does make a difference is primarily spreading knowledge of this plight and proving the human dimension of the story.”
The track is launching at the end of the week. Additionally, a full recording of the solidarity show will be made available for streaming on a major video platform from the 19th of December.
