Fans Demand Arrest of Man Who Grabbed Ariana Grande
Loyal followers of the actress are calling for that a individual who breached a fence and seized the performer during yesterday's Wicked: For Good launch be taken into custody or removed from Singapore.
A widely shared video depicts the individual from Australia pushing past camera operators and charging at Grande while the performers proceeded down a yellow carpet surrounded by onlookers.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo quickly guided the stunned actress away from Mr Wen, who was observed being escorted out of the gathering by event staff.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram recently that he was "released after being taken in", though court documents indicated that he was scheduled to attend court on Friday morning. It is uncertain if he was charged.
Pattern of Incidents
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Troll Most Hated", has crashed a concert or event. His Instagram account features videos of him interrupting other high-profile occasions, including jumping on stage at the pop singer's Sydney concert in June this year and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers performance in the city last December.
"Measures must be taken applied against him as this is clearly a criminal offence," commented an Instagram commenter, in a response to a video Mr Wen shared of his act.
"You've done this repeatedly... how are you not behind bars?" a different Instagram user remarked.
Fans Express Concern Over Grande's Past Trauma
Several fans accused Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had discussed experiencing trauma-related anxiety after a terrorist explosion at the end of her 2017 performance in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and harming many.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" said another comment on Instagram.
Some supporters also criticised guards at the gathering for not being sufficiently alert; while some demanded social media platforms to remove Mr Wen's videos.
Aftermath and Premiere Information
In footage circulating online, Grande appeared startled when she was grabbed by the man. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be seen consoling her while Mr Wen was removed by staff.
Grande has not commented on the incident, and the remaining proceedings carried on uninterrupted.
Numerous of fans had congregated in a crowd of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good regional debut in a Singapore shopping center, including several who had stood in line for as long as eight hours before it started.
The motion picture, to be released on November 21, is the follow-up of a two-part version of the well-known stage musical Wicked, which revolves around the unexpected relationship between two contrasting witches.
The production itself is a spin-off of the classic book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who acts as the benevolent sorceress Glinda, was decked out in a rosé sequin dress at the event while Erivo, who plays the wicked witch, wore a elegant ensemble featuring roses.
They were accompanied by fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the most successful motion picture of 2024 in the UK, and earned a dozen Academy Award nods, earning a pair for excellent wardrobe and set decoration.
