Former Physician Faces Assault Charges Involving 38 Patients
Prosecutors have stated that a ex- doctor now faces charges for committing assaults involving 38 individuals who were patients.
Details of the Serious Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of sexual offences – some of which involve some against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
One senior CPS official said, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Police Inquiry
The charges follow what investigators called a “detailed inquiry” into alleged sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.
Spencer is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

Prosecutors outline the forty-five sexual offences comprise:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
- Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- One count of attempted penetrative assault.
