Grief as Popular South African DJ Killed in the Heart of Johannesburg.
A prominent South African radio and club DJ has been murdered in the metropolis of Johannesburg, sending shockwaves across a country grappling with persistent crime.
Warrick Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras, was shot and killed in the central business district on Tuesday afternoon.
Officials stated the 40-year-old media personality was approached by a trio of assailants, with one shot at him before running away.
The reason behind the shooting remains unclear and no one has been arrested have been made, as per the official statement.
Details of the Attack
Police said that Stock was attacked as he was exiting a premises close to the city center landmark.
He had devoted time at the site supervising the installation of security systems, which had been controversially occupied by unknown people, as per local media.
"Authorities believe the man was confronted by three unknown suspects after he parked his car, and they shot at him before escaping on foot," authorities confirmed.
Surveillance tape reportedly captured a suspect with dreadlocked hair and clad in what resembled a security uniform firing shots on Stock before making his escape.
The DJ sought to escape after he was wounded but collapsed across the street.
It was further revealed that Stock had an gun that was not fired and nothing was taken during the incident.
Key evidence, like bullet casings, were recovered from the crime scene.

Officials are asking anyone who saw the event who may have seen the suspects to contact them.
"We know they traveled on foot after the attack, and officers have been following their trail to find their location," added an official.

His family member, Nicole Stock, said the loved ones are reeling to understand the tragedy.
"Words fail me. I am shattered," she said.
"It is clear he was a representative for countless citizens. He was a fearless commentator about issues not many people were ready to speak about. This is a profound tragedy."
She urged the community to not sharing explicit content from the incident, explaining this was an extremely painful time, especially for Stock's three sons.

Stock was the presenter of Ngicel' iVisa, a series that aired on a popular local TV network.
Apart from his work in broadcasting, Stock was active in various commercial activities, including private security, supplying VIP protection services and protecting prestigious gatherings across South Africa.
He was also said to be engaged in building administration and assisted with building evictions.

His death has shocked the country and prompted an outpouring of tributes from his followers, the government and various organizations.
A cabinet official said he was outraged and heartbroken by Stock's murder.
"He was forthright boldly and honestly. He even criticized me and my policies as a public official. He was a pure example of who we ought to be," he stated.
A party figurehead commented the "shocking killing of DJ Warras in the middle of the day is a trauma for all South Africans".
A broadcasting director noted that "DJ Warras was far beyond a TV personality. He was a skilled narrator, a dedicated enthusiast of music and a generous spirit who brought excitement and dynamism to every moment on screen. His commitment to his craft left an lasting impression."
In a communication, the broadcaster he worked for declared Stock was known for his charisma, kindness and intelligent commentary, adding that his influence "will be remembered".
