Iran Claims Strike on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Regional Retaliatory Strikes.
Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed strikes throughout the Middle East in response for a significant and continuing offensive targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity near the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any damage is unclear and the US has not commented.
Missile Defenses Activated
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - which all house US military bases - stated they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their airspace.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the strikes on Iran launched by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on sites associated with the Iranian leadership, with President Trump calling on the Iranian people to rise up against the government.
Regional Fallout
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces said it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses responded to the missiles with high efficiency and destroyed a series of missiles," it added.
Officials reported missile fragments fell on a residential area in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some property damage and fatalities.
The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
