'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Galbraith continues contest with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he remembers the dramatic closing stages of his team's epic comeback victory against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. That match culminated with Galbraith briefly donning a supporter's spectacles following the pitch-side pile-on.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith struck the post with a long-range strike from outside the box, and his teammate quickly hammered in the rebound before charging toward the home end to revel in the moment, with supporters mobbing the players.

Stunning Reversal

The victory completed an unbelievable recovery given the team had found themselves down 2-0 deep into the latter period. Amid the euphoria, there was some minor mishaps. Galbraith explained, "There was a fan sort of calling out and Josh Key and I were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're people, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Premier League Giants

The result secured a fourth-round game at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, a club Galbraith pushed hard at the same stage of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. He had a prime vantage point when his former team took the lead in remarkable manner, with a teammate's long-range effort from about way out going in via the crossbar and the opposition keeper. It seems unfair that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've credited him for taking the effort on from that far out," says Galbraith, who began the game centrally before switching to right wing-back after Orient changed tactics. That meant competing with City's winger, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the player was among the opposition who paid tribute to the way the underdogs played positively.

City's Quality

"Fitness-wise they are very good but even the simple things and simple things, they can just execute repeatedly," Galbraith says. "It appears that they complete every delivery and they understand how to dictate and take the sting out of a game. You can feel you're doing well and then suddenly they will just fizz a pass through a line without you even spotting it. You have to be switched on every second of the game. It takes a tough attitude and focus just to keep pace."

Swansea Move

The Welsh side were keen on Galbraith in January and beat off competition to bring him in in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He made a name as a crowd pleaser across multiple campaigns at Orient and has swiftly achieved similar status in Wales. At his previous team he linked up again with the coach, who four years ago gave Galbraith his first extended run in first-team action on loan at a League One side from Manchester United. Then came a spell at fourth-tier Salford, before he moved on from Old Trafford.

Development Path

"I was probably a slightly green going into men's football. I think many athletes would say youth team games is completely distinct. Sometimes it seems play is circulated without real physicality. There are limited hard challenges. Once you start playing men's games you have to learn quickly."

Country Call-ups

He has shown that growth for club and country, excelling for Northern Ireland, who remain in contention for the international competition next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has started the recent fixtures, including home and away encounters against the German national team. The ex-coach, Galbraith's previous international manager, paid him the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he controls possession and his ability to spot a game-changing assist.

Starting Out

This marks a remarkable path for the kid from the Queens Park estate in his hometown, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who was raised observing his father, the elder Galbraith, also a engine room operator, play for his father's team.

Old Trafford Memory

The player's sole appearance for Manchester United came in Central Asia in 2019, a continental tournament trip to Astana, where they featured on an synthetic surface and the stadium roof was sealed owing to the weather of -15C. "That proved to be a extended travel and it was cold out there," he recalls, smiling. "The preceding week, the academy prospects practiced as a group, so that aided our adjustment. Just to accompany the senior squad and get a couple of minutes at the end was unbelievable."

Leaving United

How hard was it to depart Manchester United, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged 16? "It was quite easy, because I reached the point where I understood I wasn't going to make it at first-team level. I'm very appreciative for the time I spent there but it became apparent where I thought I needed to go my own route, drop down the leagues and play professional soccer. Now I'm steadily climbing the ladder."

New Environment

It is the middle of the day at the club's training ground but Galbraith has somewhere to be at late afternoon: a road rules assessment, another progress toward getting on the road. Prior to relocating to his new neighborhood, the mid-twenties player was a constant rider in Swansea's so-called fun bus, a minibus driven by club employees, Pete and Howard, which ferries players to and from practice and games.

"I travel with the Portuguese player, another squad member, an Ivorian player – the Swedish defender used to be in it but has started driving. It's enjoyable to interact with the lads but I'm planning to be the following person to stop using the bus and driving. His teammate likes to pull a few pranks; he's constantly causing mischief."

Supporter Connections

During his time at Leyton Orient, Galbraith would mix with fans on the Tube after commuting at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
