Jurgen Klopp states coming back to lead Liverpool is conceivable.
Jurgen Klopp, who stepped down from Anfield in 2024, remarked that a future comeback remains something that could happen. Klopp, following a hugely successful nine-year spell that included a European Cup triumph and ending the club's long wait for three decades, now holds roles in a global football capacity for Red Bull and providing guidance for the DFL.
Supporters’ Hopes and His Frank Comments
Liverpool won England's top flight last season, though countless followers who adore the manager would be thrilled by the notion that he might come back one day. In a wide-ranging interview, he shared with the podcast host: “I declared I will never coach a different club in England. Which implies if then it’s Liverpool...yeah. It's plausible.”
“Being 58, which suggests I could make the decision down the line, I don’t know. Do I have to make the decision today? In that case, I'd stay away. Luckily, I don’t have to do that. I can just see what the future brings.”
Conditions for a Comeback
Pressed on which situations must arise to tempt his return to management, Klopp admitted he isn't eager for a comeback. “I'm not entirely sure, My present work fulfills me,” he stated. “I don’t miss coaching; I don’t miss standing under bad weather for lengthy sessions; I don’t miss going to media briefings repeatedly each week or having 10-12 interviews each week.
“The locker room isn't missed in that context, however, dining out with the players having a nice chat, is pleasant. Success was frequent so there was often positive atmosphere in the building. I still have Van Dijk's laughter vividly recalled to illustrate.”
Commending Arne Slot
Klopp was full of praise regarding Arne Slot, acknowledging his role for the tweaks that won the league in the previous season. They've been defeated four in a row across various tournaments following significant transfers, though he denied the idea of it representing a decline.
“[Liverpool have] an incredible striker like Florian Wirtz, doubters will be silenced if spoken against. He’s an incredible talent. Ekitike, incredible player. It’s a really good balanced team. You don’t have to worry over the club, things will improve.”
Heartfelt Words for the Late Forward
Klopp also spoke emotionally about the death of the Portuguese star, a player he signed while in charge, along with the consequences on Liverpool. Jota was killed in a vehicle collision with his brother recently.
“How do you replace such an individual? It goes beyond the player himself, it’s the guy he was. I struggle to conceive the team environment without him in it. I still cannot speak properly regarding this. A profound tragedy for all the boys too. Not a single person would cite it as an excuse yet it's the reality. Entering the changing area where he was omnipresent. Dealing with that emotionally is challenging. Unbearable.”
