Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hard surfaces

A comeback Medvedev claimed his initial trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament final.

The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging season, managing just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a setback at the American major.

The player's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in specific - resulted in him dropping out of the elite rankings and finally splitting with long-term mentor his previous coach.

Now training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a tightly fought three-set victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.

It is Medvedev's initial trophy since the Rome competition and first on a hard court from spring of that year.

Victory also means he has achieved 21 championships at twenty-one different tournaments.

"For the first time I have attended a event with my children at once, so to win a championship is particularly special," stated tennis professional the champion.

"This title is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my child her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his last six championship matches, comprising in that event earlier this year.

The player's retrieving strategy and recurring outbursts on court had caused some to question if his capacity to compete at the top level was concluded.

Yet the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and perform positively, backed up by an improved serving game.

Medvedev recovered from a break down in the opening set against the challenging opponent, securing four of the concluding five games to take the lead.

The pair swapped break points in the middle set before Moutet, striving for his maiden professional title, took control to force a decider.

He rescued 4 early opportunities in a competitive third set before the champion secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.

Appropriately, he earned victory with a rally at the net area, with his opponent unable to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
